Caustics of the restricted three-body problem

چکیده
Trajectories of the planar, circular, restricted threebody problem are given in the configuration space through the caustics associated to the invariant tori of quasi-periodic orbits. It is shown that the caustics of trajectories librating in any particular resonance display some features associated to that resonance. This method can be considered complementary to the Poincaré surface of section method, because it provides information not accessible by the other method.

Comparison of Ordinary and Restricted Selection Indices on Genetic Gain of Body Weight in Iranian Moghani Sheep
The effect of ordinary and restricted selection indices on body weight at different ages changes in birth weight of Iranian Moghani sheep was studied. Traits in the aggregate genotype were birth weight (BW), body weights at 3 (BW3) and 12 months of age (BW12). Two ordinary selection indices (I1 and I2) and two restricted selection indices (R1 and R2) were constructed. BW and BW3 were included i...
متن کاملProperties of Point Mass Lenses on a Regular Polygon and the Problem of Maximum Number of Images
We study the critical curves, caustics, and multiple imaging due to one of the simplest many-body gravitational lens configurations: equal-mass point masses on the vertices of a regular polygon. Some examples of the critical curves and caustics are also displayed. We pose the problem of determining the maximum number of lensed images due to regularpolygon and general point mass configurations. ...

Statement of Problem: The relatively poor wear resistance of dental composite in stress bearing posterior situations has restricted wider clinical application of this restorative material. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the three body abrasive wear of a dental composite based on a new filler (leucite: KAl Si2O6) and to compare it with the wear resistance of a composite based on ...
متن کاملLensing by Binary Galaxies Modelled as Isothermal Spheres
We consider the problem of lensing by binary galaxies idealized as two isothermal spheres. This is a natural extension of the problem of lensing by binary point masses first studied by Schneider & Weiss (1986). In a wide binary, each galaxy possesses individual tangential, nearly astroidal, caustics and roundish radial caustics. As the separation of the binary is made smaller, the caustics unde...

We study the problem of gravitational lensing by binary galaxies, idealized as two isothermal spheres. In a wide binary, each galaxy possesses individual tangential, nearly astroidal, caus-tics and roundish radial caustics. As the separation of the binary is made smaller, the caustics undergo a sequence of metamorphoses. The first metamorphosis occurs when the tangential caustics merge to form ...
